LTU and Byggföretagen in increased co-operation

Luleå The industry organisation Byggföretagen, the Swedish Construction Federation, and Luleå University of Technology have signed a new cooperation agreement on sustainability, industrialization, management and AI.

The purpose of the collaboration is to increase the pace of innovation and development in the construction industry.

"Collaboration with Byggföretagen is vital for us as a university. It means that our research and our education programmes remain relevant in construction and civil engineering. Our students become attractive in the labour market and the research has the right focus with results that can be applied practically and be useful," says Charlotte Wiberg, Vice President for Research and Collaboration at Luleå University of Technology.

With the agreement, the parties want closer cooperation on skills supply, an increased number of research and development projects, less administration for faster handling of research projects and education and an increased co-utilization of skills and resources.

The new cooperation agreement is a formalization and deepening of a cooperation that already exists between Byggföretagen and LTU.

"A high rate of innovation and development in the construction industry is crucial for the development of society and for the industry's green transition. This cooperation agreement with Luleå University of Technology is an important part of continuing to develop the industry so that we can achieve the overall climate goals and continue to build Sweden on fair grounds," says Catharina Elmsäter-Svärd, CEO of Byggföretagen, the Swedish Construction Federation.
