NYAB signs agreement on Norrbotniabanan

Luleå The Swedish-Finnish company NYAB, based in Luleå, has signed a contract with the Swedish Transport Administration to build the first section of the Norrbotniabanan, the future coastal railway between Umeå and Luleå. The order value is SEK 144 million.

The section in question is between Umeå freight yard and Sundbäck in Umeå municipality. NYAB will carry out track work and work for electricity, telecommunications and cable laying.

“It is gratifying that Nyab has been entrusted with the construction of the Norrbotniabanan. The project fits our competencies well, and we look forward to continuing our good cooperation with the Swedish Transport Administration and contributing to the region's and Sweden's entire infrastructure. Norrbotniabanan is an extensive project in a region with great potential and we see good opportunities to further intensify our investments in the area in the future," says Mattias Broström, Business Area Manager for Infrastructure at NYAB.

Work will begin this April and be completed by the end of 2026.
