NYAB builds in Umeå harbor

Umeå The Luleå company NYAB has been awarded a major contract for the expansion of the Port of Umeå. The contract is worth SEK 164 million (EUR 15 million).

The client is Umeå Hamn AB and NYAB's assignment is part of a major reconstruction and expansion of the port of Umeå.

NYAB will build a new quay in the port area and demolish the existing one. The assignment also includes dredging, construction of a ramp for loading and unloading, and paving work for the harbor plan and superstructure of the area.

“I am pleased that Nyab is entrusted with the further development of Umeå's infrastructure and thus contributes to the region's continued growth. The project fits our competencies well and we see great continued growth potential in this region,” says Mattias Broström, Business Area Manager for Infrastructure at NYAB.

The Port of Umeå is located 17 kilometers south of Umeå city center. The expansion will adapt the port's northern quay for modern vessels and enable it to handle larger volumes of containers, bulk and special cargoes more efficiently.

Work will begin this March and be completed in the fall of 2026.
