Jan Moström is retiring
Jan Moström, who has been CEO of LKAB for ten years, plans to retire next year when he turns 67.
The Board has started the recruitment process to find a successor who can start work at the turn of the year. Jan Moström will stay on during the first half of next year to help with the transition.
"LKAB is in a position of strength after Jan Moström's period as CEO. With a very strong balance sheet, good profitability and competitive operations, LKAB is in a strong position. LKAB today has significant mineral resources, which will be converted into continued mining operations for a long time to come," says Anders Borg, Chairman of the Board of LKAB.
Jan Moström has led the state-owned LKAB during a period when the company has explored and secured larger ore deposits than were previously known. LKAB has also launched several development projects for future iron ore production, including the Hybrit project for fossil-free steel production, which it is running together with SSAB and Vattenfall. The company will also utilise the deposits of rare earth elements and phosphorus found in iron ore deposits.
