Peab moves more cultural buildings in Kiruna

Kiruna The construction company Peab has been commissioned to move four more cultural buildings in Kiruna. The client is LKAB, and the contract sum is SEK 139 million.

A foreman's residence and three other villas will be moved from the old centre of Kiruna to the new quarters. The move will take place during the summer, to take advantage of the light summer nights when there is not so much traffic.

"Since last year, Peab has begun the task of moving cultural buildings from the old Kiruna centre to the new blocks that are emerging. It's exciting to be part of, and to see, the new Kiruna develop," says Hans Boija, Regional Manager at Peab.

The assignment also includes restoration work, tree felling, preparatory groundwork, water and sewerage, district heating, roads, public power and lighting to be laid and built, as well as garages, playgrounds, barbecue areas, noise barriers and vegetation. The buildings will then be renovated and adapted to the activities they will house.

The project is a turnkey contract in partnership. It starts now and will be completed in autumn/winter 2026.

Peab has operations in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark and has a total of 13,000 employees.
