Conference to strengthen the cultural sector

Piteå Stakeholders in the cultural and creative industries gather at a conference in Piteå.

The cultural and creative industries are considered to be an increasingly important part of the business community and labor market, both in Sweden and globally. The Swedish government has presented a strategy to strengthen Sweden's position in this area. But there is no national strategy and coordination for skills development in artistic professions.

This is the theme when Piteå Science Park, North Creative Nodes and Kulturakademin organize a conference next week to discuss how the cultural sector can be strengthened and developed.

"A national coordination of the supply of skills in the cultural sector would create strong synergies and contribute to both excellence and breadth in lifelong learning. By gathering and coordinating resources, we can build up expertise and specialization that strengthens the entire sector,” says Peter Hiltunen, Head of Operations at Kulturakademin.

The owners of Kulturakademin are Film i Väst, Gothenburg Opera, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Folkteatern, Regionteater Väst and Teater Halland.

North Creative Nodes is part of the municipally owned Piteå Science Park and is made possible by the European Regional Development Fund, Utveckla Norrbotten - part of Region Norrbotten, Piteå Municipality, Luleå Municipality, Boden Municipality, Sparbanken Nord and Boden Business Park.
