Åsa Allan recruited to Boliden

Pajala Kaunis Iron's Vice President Åsa Allan has been recruited to the mining company Boliden where she will be Exploration Director.

In her new job, she will be responsible for Boliden's extensive exploration activities. Last year, Boliden invested SEK 929 million in exploration. 120 employees work with the business.

"It is a large and important business. It feels great to go back to my roots and work with what is in my DNA," says Åsa Allan to Dagens Industri. She has a PhD in ore geology.

Åsa Allan worked in the Pajala mine already when Northland was mining there, which went bankrupt in 2014. After the bankruptcy, she worked as a municipal manager in Pajala municipality. When the mine reopened in 2018, she was the first employee of Kaunis Iron. She was the mine's site manager during the production build-up. Later she became vice president and responsible for Kaunis Iron's exploration activities.

“I've worked a lot with iron ore in recent years and this will be completely different types of ore. It's an exciting and challenging role,” says Åsa Allan to Dagens Industri.
