Norra Skog increases rail transport

The forest owners' association Norra Skog increases rail transport by 36 per cent.

The increase in rail transport of timber has taken place for several years. In 2022, the increase was 40 per cent, in 2023 the company increased its rail transports by 30 per cent and in 2024 by another 36 per cent.

"This is part of our long-term efforts to reduce climate impact and strengthen our competitiveness," says Jonas Arvidsson, Marketing Manager for Timber at Norra Skog.

To support the development of sustainability, Norra Skog has in 2024 established new terminals in Östavall, Skellefteå harbour and in Karlstad through the subsidiary Meraskog. Investments have also been made in improved measuring capacity at Kåge sawmill in Västerbotten, which enables more rational handling of all assortments.
