Cross-border trade continues to grow

Luleå Grocery sales in border municipalities increased almost twice as much as the average for all municipalities in Sweden.

This is shown by statistics from Statistics Sweden (SCB).

In total, the grocery trade in Sweden increased its sales by 4.4% during the first half of this year compared to the same period last year. In the border municipalities, it increased by 8.1%. In several border municipalities in Norrbotten, sales increased even more.

In Jokkmokk, it increased by 13.6%, which means that Jokkmokk had the largest increase together with Strömstad. In Arjeplog, grocery sales increased by 12.6% compared to last year.

The increase is greatest in municipalities bordering Norway. On the other hand, border trade decreased along the border with Finland. In Haparanda, sales in the grocery trade fell by 4.6%.
