MindDig opens for unemployed from Northvolt

The digital platform MindDig, founded in Luleå three years ago, offers employers to freely use the matching platform to offer laid-off workers from the battery factory Northvolt a new job in Sweden.

Among the 1,600 people laid off from Northvolt, many come from other countries, more than 100 countries are represented among the employees.

"We just want to do our part during these difficult times to keep these extraordinary talents in Sweden. Many of them have to make decisions quickly as they are here on work visas, and it would be a shame to lose them,” says Chana Svensson, co-founder of MindDig.

According to Chana Svensson, there is an urgent need to help those laid off from Northvolt before their work permit expires, which it does three months after their last day of work at Northvolt.

"Many of these employees, both foreign and Swedish alike, have moved their entire families to work for Northvolt. They have made friends, bought houses or apartments, their kids are enrolled in schools. This is devasting for each and every one of them,” says Chana Svensson.

In her work with the recruitment platform, Chana Svensson is in daily contact with people affected by Northvolt's problems.

"We are talking to these talents every day and my fear is that the business community will not step up and realize the incredible opportunity that this is – to hire some of the most talented individuals that have moved to Sweden in decades. We will not see profiles of this level and this amount any time soon,” says Chana Svensson.

MindDig is a digital platform that started three years ago. Its aim is to facilitate the recruitment of the right skills and talent, especially in green industry and infrastructure.

The platform is subject to a fee for companies. Now the platform is being opened up so that it is free of charge for employers who want to hire people made redundant from Northvolt.
