Camp Ripan nominated for the Grand Tourism Prize

Kiruna The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) announces that 21 facilities in Sweden have been nominated for the Grand Tourism Prize. One of them is Camp Ripan in Kiruna.

“Camp Ripan runs an innovative business with a focus on sustainability and local collaboration. With genuine experiences based on Sami, Tornedalian and Swedish culture, long-term partnerships and a strong focus on climate awareness and social responsibility, they are a role model for sustainable tourism in the Arctic,” reads the motivation.

The regional tourism organization Swedish Lapland Visitors Board nominated Camp Ripan.

The prize, which is awarded for the 31st consecutive year, is awarded to an organization that contributes to the development of the tourism industry in an innovative and sustainable way. In addition, they should work to spread knowledge to develop a sustainable tourism industry.

The 21 candidates are nominated in their respective counties. The prize will be awarded in December at Münchenbryggeriet in Stockholm in connection with the conference Besöksnäring på agendan.

The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) is the principal of the Foundation for Knowledge Promotion in Tourism, which awards the Grand Tourism Prize, Cicerone of the Year and works to disseminate knowledge to actors in tourism and the hospitality industry.
