Port of Luleå procures port operator
The new procurement concerns the operation and maintenance of the Port of Victoria, a part of Port of Luleå, where the operation includes responsibility for loading, unloading and storage of goods.
The tender starts this week with dialogues with suppliers and customers to explore the market and funding opportunities.
"These dialogues may influence whether some funding will also be included in the tender. For me, it is reassuring that we are now approaching a completed plan for the port's expansion so that we can meet our customers' needs," says Anders Dahl, CEO of the Port of Luleå.
The contract with the Port of Luleå's current port operator expires on 31 March 2026 and a concession partner needs to be in place by 1 April 2026. The Port of Luleå expects to have signed a contract by the end of 2025.
The Port of Luleå has an important role in the industry's green transition. Soon, three to four times as much goods will be transported and the port will receive four times as much ship traffic. In addition, the port will be able to handle completely new types of goods and products. The background to the expansion is partly the major industrial investments that are underway, and partly that the port's capacity is already too small today.
