Working together for safe entrepreneurial housing

Luleå Industrial companies LKAB, SSAB, Talga, Uniper, Power2Earth and the industry organisation Byggföretagen will collaborate with Luleå municipality to create safe contractor housing.

The parties have signed a letter of intent to create safe and secure housing, to cooperate against crime and insecurity and to conduct stakeholder dialogues. The goal is to find common solutions for the temporary entrepreneurs and create social security.

"The green transition should contribute to positive societal benefits while also posing challenges for society, especially when it comes to housing. The municipality of Luleå has recently taken an important step by creating the conditions for the construction of 3,000 new entrepreneurial housing units. We are pleased that this initiative has now been taken further by LKAB, SSAB, Talga, Power2Earth, Uniper and Byggföretagen," says Fredrik Hansson (S), Vice Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board.

"In our industrial investments, the establishment of entrepreneurial housing is a prerequisite for our success. That's why we need to work now to create conditions for temporary contractors. At the same time, it will contribute to responsible solutions and security for the people of Luleå, which this letter of intent is an important piece of the puzzle to enable," says David Högnelid, Strategy Manager Business Area Special Products, LKAB.
