The capacity of the electricity network increase without new investments.

Luleå Svenska Kraftnät promises an additional 500 MW of electricity capacity for industrial investments in northern Sweden.

The state-owned enterprise responsible for the power system in Sweden has carried out in-depth analyses, made operational adjustments and produced more in-depth information on the connections in the electricity system. As a result, it can now promise to increase the allocation by 500 MW of power in the Luleå area.

"We can implement this increase without building new lines and stations in addition to those we have already communicated", says Daniel Gustafsson, Head of the Power System Department at Svenska Kraftnät.

Svenska Kraftnät has already given advance notice of approximately 2500 MW increase of power for the new industrialization and electrification of existing industries in Norrland.

According to Daniel Gustafsson, this does not solve the long-term power needs in Norrland. Actual and forecast applications indicate much greater needs. Therefore, he believes that it is of the utmost importance that the connections with the best conditions to be realized in time are those that actually get access to the capacity.

Svenska kraftnät's preliminary decision on additional allocation is submitted to the regional grid, which in turn delivers the power to its customers.

Svenska kraftnät is a state-owned enterprise with the task of managing Sweden's national grid for electricity, which comprises approximately 16,000 kilometers of 400 kV and 220 kV lines with stations and international connections.
