New training for local Kiruna ambassadors
The program is part of Kiruna Lapland's 30th anniversary celebrations, and is financially supported by the regional bank Sparbanken Nord.
The aim of the initiative is for the activities to get locals to discover their destination and thus create tourism ambassadors who are more confident in conveying information and knowledge to visitors and feel proud and able to recommend Kiruna's unique travel incentives.
"To achieve Kiruna municipality's goal of increasing the population, we also need to work with the local population's pride in their place. Without tourism, we would have had marginal flights or trains to Kiruna. We need to spread awareness locally that the tourism industry is the new basic industry, an industry to be reckoned with and which adds soft values to a destination where industry remains heavy," says Peter Salomonsson, CEO of Kiruna Lapland.
The activities will be implemented in February 2024 and are available on the Kiruna Lapland website.
