Johnny Sjöström new CEO of SSAB

Luleå Johnny Sjöström has been appointed new President and CEO of the steel manufacturer SSAB.

Johnny Sjöström is now working as Division President for SSAB Special Steels. In this position, he has worked to develop the company's specialty steel business and is responsible for the green transition underway at SSAB's steel mill in Oxelösund.

Before that, he was CEO of the Uddeholm steel industry and held various management positions at Outokumpu Stainless Oy.

“The SSAB Board and I are very pleased that Johnny Sjöström has accepted the role as President and CEO of SSAB. He has solid technical knowledge and long experience in the industry in the Nordic region and internationally. With his background and experience, he is the right person to lead SSAB forward,” says Lennart Evrell, Chairman of the Board of SSAB.

Johnny Sjöström holds a PhD in Materials Science from Karlstad University and an Executive MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics.

“I am honored and proud that the Board has entrusted me to lead SSAB into the next phase. I will spend a lot of time listening to and traveling around the organization to get to know all parts of the company before I take over on October 28,” says Johnny Sjöström.

He succeeds Martin Lindqvist, who has previously announced that he is leaving the company to pursue a career on the board.
