Pite Energi makes solar wall from roof panels

Piteå The municipal company Piteå Näringsfastigheter has invested in 88 facade-mounted solar panels on the tennis hall in Backens industrial area, together with Pite Energi.

The panels installed are standard for roofs, but they work just as well mounted on walls.

"The obvious advantage of facade-mounted panels is that they do not get covered with snow and can therefore produce where a roof-mounted panel would have been snow-covered. But mounting on a steeply sloping roof, for example, generally gives a higher production," says Martin Carlsson, business advisor at Pite Energi, an energy company owned by the municipality of Piteå.

Pite Energi has participated in the process with the solar panels.

"It feels safe that Pite Energi has a lot of experience with solar cells and we have had close dialog since the start. We hope that the solar panels' close location to Timmerleden will inspire more property owners to adopt energy-efficient solutions," says Marcus Edlund, Operations Manager at Piteå Näringsfastigheter.

With its bright summer nights and more than 2,000 hours of sunshine per year, Piteå in Norrbotten has good conditions for solar energy production. It is the light, not the sun itself, that generates energy and the radiation is also indirectly affected by reflections from snow.
