Swire acquires WPS Sweden AB

Piteå Swire Renewable Energy acquires the Piteå company WPS Sweden AB.

WPS Sweden, founded in Piteå, inspects, repairs and maintains wind turbines. It has operations in Sweden, Norway and Finland.

“WPS provides SRE with an important and very professional foundation for strengthening our wind turbine service business across Northern Europe – particularly the Nordics. We look forward to welcoming all the WPS office staff and technicians in the coming weeks and working together to expand our service coverage and grow our client base under SRE ownership”, says Ryan Smith, CEO of Swire Renewable Energy.

“we are looking forward to integrating with the SRE business and increasing our competitiveness with a stronger balance sheet and a broadened skill set including blade and HV services, which will greatly benefit our existing customers”, says Henrik Johansson, CEO of WPS.

The integration will start immediately and WPS will change its name to SRE, Swire Renewable Energy, and become SRE's operational office for Sweden, Norway and Finland.

WPS Sweden (Wind Power Service Sweden) was founded in Piteå in 2014 by Emil Fhärm and Mattias Broman. The company has had framework agreements with Vestas, Nordex and Enercon, among others. In 2022, the company had a turnover of SEK 41 million and 23 employees.

Swire Renewable Energy was previously a division of Swire Energy Services, but became a subsidiary last year. Swire Energy Services is part of the global Swire Group, based in London.
