Fertilizer factory gets land allocation

Luleå Green Wolverine AB, a subsidiary of Spanish Grupo Fertiberia, is proposed to receive a land allocation to build a plant for the production of green ammonia and green fertilizer at Luleå Industrial Park.

The plant, an estimated investment of around SEK 20 billion, will be built on a 40-hectare site on the Hertsö field. Construction of the plant will begin in 2024 and production will start in late 2027 or early 2028.

The hydrogen gas needed will be produced in a factory to be built in Norra Svartbyn in Boden and transported by pipeline 40 kilometers to the factory in Luleå. At the end of last year, the company Green Wolverine AB was formed in Boden, a subsidiary of Fertiberia Sverige AB, which is part of Grupo Fertiberia.

Fertiberia is one of Europe's largest producers of artificial fertilizers. It has a total of 13 factories in Spain, Portugal and France.

On Monday, the municipal executive board's working committee will decide on the land allocation for the fertilizer factory.
