Swedavia plans new hotel at Kiruna Airport

Kiruna State-owned Swedavia is planning to build a hotel at Kiruna Airport.

The new hotel will be located directly adjacent to the terminal at Sweden's northernmost airport. It will have 180 hotel rooms in two different room types. There will also be a restaurant and bar on the hotel's ground floor and a lobby with a work lounge with a separate work environment for those who want it.

"Airports are important hubs and excellent locations for hotels. They will be located right at the terminals and the location combined with high quality architecture and finishes make them very attractive hotels. We believe they will be met with great interest from the operator market," says Swedavia Real Estate's CEO Stefan Stenberg.

Swedavia is also planning to build a new hotel at Arlanda outside Stockholm, with 540 double rooms, conference facilities, bars and restaurants.

It is now inviting operators to submit tenders to run the hotels at Kiruna Airport and Arlanda.

State-owned Swedavia owns and operates ten of Sweden's largest airports, including Luleå and Kiruna, Arlanda and Landvetter.
