NYAB wins new contracts
NYAB will widen taxiways at Arlanda Airport outside Stockholm for the state-owned Swedavia, a contract worth SEK 66 million. Starting at the end of June, NYAB will widen the taxiways for runway 1 at Arlanda in 11 weeks. Runway 1 has the heaviest traffic and is the runway where the largest planes primarily land.
NYAB has also signed two contracts with the construction company Infranord for infrastructure projects in Kiruna. These involve switch replacements and yard extensions on the Lina älv - Kalixfors railway line and a new nine-track wide yard in Kiruna. NYAB is also carrying out two contracts for the mining company LKAB in the same area.
NYAB's subsidiary Skarta Energy is planning to build a large solar power plant in Tornio, northern Finland, together with the city of Tornio's development company Business Tornio Oy. If the plans go ahead, the plant will cover 100 hectares outside the village of Kyläjoki, where an industrial area is also planned. It is an investment of EUR 60 million.
Skarta Energy is owned by NYAB and finance company Capman Fund. Skarta Energy is developing some of the largest solar energy projects in Finland. For example, on more than 100 hectares of abandoned peat bogs in Utajärvi and on old mining areas in Hitura and Pyhäsalmi in Northern Österbotten.
NYAB was founded in Luleå and works with earthworks, infrastructure and specialized construction activities. In recent years, the company has grown to a turnover of billions of Swedish kronor with assignments over a large part of the country, not least in Stockholm and the region around the capital. At the end of 2021, the Finnish Skarta Group Abp acquired the NYAB Group in a share swap agreement. Last fall, the new group changed its name to NYAB as 70 percent of the company's turnover is generated in Sweden.
Business Tornio Oy is a business company owned by the City of Tornio and local companies, whose mission is to develop and diversify the business sector, promote employment and provide tourism development services.
