Business start-ups and bankruptcies at a good level

The northernmost region of Norrbotten has the best development of Sweden's regions in terms of newly started companies. When it comes to bankruptcies, Norrbotten also has a better development than the national average.

New businesses continue to fall in Sweden. But Norrbotten is doing the best of the regions with an unchanged number of new businesses in April compared to the same month last year.

In Norrbotten, a total of 107 new companies started in April, a change of minus 0.93 percent. The average for the country was minus 23.9 percent. Many regions had a decline of around 30 percent.

The statistics come from Bolagsverket, Swedish Companies Registration Office, and are presented by Nyföretagarcentrum. It applies to limited liability companies, partnerships, limited partnerships and sole proprietorships.

Even when it comes to bankruptcies, the development is better in Norrbotten. In April, six limited companies went bankrupt in the county, compared to five companies in the same month last year. It is admittedly a percentage increase of 20 percent. But the average for the country was 24 percent.

Since the beginning of the year, 34 limited companies have gone bankrupt in Norrbotten, an unchanged figure compared to the same period last year. For the country as a whole, bankruptcies increased by 27 percent. A total of 2,266 companies went bankrupt during the first four months of the year.

Again, the figures come from the Swedish Companies Registration Office. They are presented by the credit information company Creditsafe.
