SKF builds skate arena in Kiruna

Kiruna Industrial company SKF is sponsoring the Kiruna Festival with a skateboard ramp and a visit from a world-class skateboarder.

The skate ramp will be placed in front of the city hall in Kiruna's new city center during the Kiruna Festival. It will feature Oski, the reigning world skateboarding champion and one of the professional skaters in the SKF skateboarding team.

"It feels great to be able to offer Norrbotten's young people this experience. Not least the opportunity to see Oski in the ramp, he is one of the world's best skaters," says Anders Inga, SKF's site manager in Kiruna.

During the festival, anyone who wants to can test the ramp. In a collaboration with the skateboard club Rullklubben Myggan, they will also offer inexperienced skaters to test the ramp.

"Another collaboration we are looking forward to during the festival is LKAB's invitation, which means that Oski will skate in one of LKAB's mine tunnels at a depth of 1365 meters. It will be a very cool visual experience to take the sport down into one of the world's largest underground mines," says Anders Inga.

The Kiruna Festival runs from June 29 to July 1. After the festival, the ramp will be moved to one of the city's parks and after the summer to Rullklubben Myggan's new premises.

SKF, founded and headquartered in Gothenburg, operates in 130 countries, has a turnover of SEK 97 billion and employs 42,600 people.
