Maria Lundgren new University Director
She comes most recently from Boden municipality where she worked for 12 years in various managerial positions. The last few years as deputy Municipal Chief Executive, and the Head of Municipal Management Administration in Boden. She has also worked for a long time in the education system, as a teacher, principal, operations manager and school manager.
“I began my career as a teacher and have studied at Luleå University of Technology, where I was among the first teachers of compulsory school to graduate. I now feel that I am coming home again, to the University and to the spirit of the students", says Maria Lundgren.
The assignment as University Director means being the head of the university's overall business support and having overall responsibility for the administrative support and authority issues within the university as a whole. The University Director reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor and is part of the university's management.
“It will be fantastic to work with Maria. Her background in the municipality of Boden, as an appreciated manager within the education system and the past few years as the Head of Administration and deputy Municipal Chief Executive, will be an important contribution to Luleå University of Technology,” says Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn, Vice-Chancellor at Luleå University of Technology.
Maria Lundgren succeeds Veronika Sundström, who recently took up the position as University Director at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.
