H2 Green Steel signs several billion contracts
On Tuesday, it was announced that H2 Green Steel will supply green steel to Scania's truck production.
“With this first order from our strategic partner H2 Green Steel, we are continuing our progress towards minimizing the climate impact from our supply chain,” says Anders Williamsson, Executive Vice President, Head of R&D and Purchasing at Scania.
A truck consists of about four tons of steel. Therefore, the company has a great opportunity to reduce its climate impact by switching to green steel. This is what it has committed to doing as a partner in the First Movers Coalition, where companies commit to using their purchasing power to scale up technologies that are crucial to the climate transition.
“Scania has been one of our biggest supporters from day one. Not only in helping frame the opportunity for green steel but also as an early seed capital investor. Their support and partnership in crafting the value proposition has contributed massively to our go-to-market strategies”, says Mark Bula, Commercial Head of Boden Steel at H2 Green Steel.
H2 Green Steel's CEO Henrik Henriksson came to H2 Green Steel from his position as CEO of Scania. H2 Green Steel's competitor in green steel, SSAB, has signed a cooperation agreement with Scania's competitor Volvo.
This is just the latest in a long line of recent customer agreements signed by H2 Green Steel: Mercedes-Benz, Marcegaglia, Thyssenkrupp Nucera, BMW, Bilstein Group.
H2 Green Steel has already signed customer contracts for a large part of the production in the first phase, which will produce 2.5 million tons of fossil-free steel per year by the end of 2025.
