Hitachi Energy invests in Luleå

Luleå The Japanese-owned company Hitachi Energy is doubling its office in Luleå this year and will increase the number of employees tenfold over the next two years.

Today, Hitachi Energy has two employees at its office in Luleå. It will add two more this year and plans to grow to more than 30 people over the next two years.

The aim of the investment is to become the market leader in energy solutions in the Nordic region. It is the major energy transition in the north that attracts.

"We want to be on the ground and grow in the role of partner to our existing customers and become an even clearer part of their journeys in the future, as well as being a good partner to all the companies establishing themselves here in the north," says Martin Frödin, new operations manager at Hitachi's Luleå office.

Hitachi Energy is not only investing in the north, but all over Sweden. Recently, the company opened a factory in Smedjebacken in Dalarna to meet the increased demand. Hitachi Energy has 40,000 employees worldwide, 4,500 of whom work in Sweden.

It is now looking for staff to expand its Luleå office.

"It is a challenge to find the right skills. There is also high competition in the market now that the demand for engineers has risen sharply as a result of so many technology companies establishing themselves so large in northern Sweden. But at Hitachi Energy we are making a real contribution to the sustainable energy transition and there is a lot happening within the company," says Martin Frödin.
