H2 Green Steel and the municipality of Boden collaborate on growth

Boden The municipality of Boden and H2 Green Steel sign an agreement to jointly drive Boden's growth.

In the cooperation agreement, the municipality and the steel company commit to a number of mutual obligations. The aim is to facilitate and ensure that as many as possible of those employed at the new steelworks settle in Boden.

"This is another step in the right direction to ensure the momentum of Boden's social transformation. Together with H2 Green Steel and their decisive investment in green reindustrialisation, we are now enabling the company's future employees to also become Boden residents. It is a win-win agreement that I am fully convinced will benefit both parties in the long term," says Claes Nordmark, councillor of Boden.

From the municipality's side, it mainly concerns support linked to housing, preschool and schooling for the employees who choose to settle in the municipality.

"Our green steelworks in Boden, with production starting in 2025, is attracting talent from all corners of the world, where we expect to create around 1,500 jobs. We need to ensure that we not only attract, but also keep our team in place in Boden. That's why we are further developing our cooperation with the municipality of Boden and identifying joint initiatives in education and housing that contribute to an increased quality of life for newcomers to Boden," says Sofia Gellar, H2 Green Steel's HR Manager.
