The IT sector in northern Sweden is growing
The Luleå company BnearIT has been part of Skellefteå-based Data Ductus for a year. The IT consultancy has now won Försäkringskassan's major IT consultancy contract in the north. The assignment will be carried out by BnearIT in Luleå. The contract is for consultancy support for system development, IT architecture and development management for Försäkringskassan's operations in Luleå and Kalix.
The framework agreement runs for two years with the possibility of a two-year extension and is worth up to SEK 200 million. In order to complete the assignment for Försäkringskassan, approximately 40 new staff will be recruited in Luleå. BnearIT currently has 40 employees and will double its staff as a result of the new assignment.
"We are extremely proud to have won this deal in tough competition with the big established IT consultancies. Thanks to the merger with Skellefteå-based Data Ductus this spring, we now have a strong local delivery capability," says Olov Stenberg, Sales Director at BnearIT.
BnearIT will now recruit a number of new employees.
"Attracting talented employees is something we work a lot with. An important factor is to be able to offer interesting and challenging assignments and we will definitely be able to do that through this deal. A long-term contract with a government agency like this also makes us a secure employer now that the economy looks set to enter a recession," says Ida Ek, Head of Consultancy at BnearIT.
The framework agreement provides the opportunity to bring in junior developers and develop their skills.
"This shows that Försäkringskassan understands the importance of developing talent locally and that they take responsibility for keeping the skills in Norrbotten. We have a good cooperation with Luleå University of Technology and hope through this deal to recruit, train and get students to stay in Luleå," says Ida Ek.
Skellefteå-based Data Ductus currently employs around 300 people and has operations in Sweden, the US, Europe and Asia. In Sweden, it has an office in Luleå under the BnearIT brand, and offices in Skellefteå, Uppsala and Malmö.
The Luleå company BnearIT was founded in 2002, today has 40 employees and is part of the Data Ductus group since March 2022.
