Performance art in the car testing industry
The performance work was created by artists Linda Remahl, Harleen Kalkat and Jenny Schinkler together with the employees of the car testing industry.
"This will be something out of the ordinary. I dare say that this is the first time that we will see the daily work in the car testing industry in the north elevated to an art experience," says Michael Lindeman, CEO of Icemakers Test AB in Arvidsjaur.
The idea for the project "Icedriving becomes performing art" where the automotive industry meets performance art comes from the Music Theatre in Arjeplog.
"The idea of this project is to unite a dear industry with art and in this way get more people in Norrbotten to get a better understanding of the art expression performance art. It seemed like perfect timing to do it in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the car testing industry," says artist Harleen Kalkat.
Behind the project is the Music Theatre in Arjeplog, which is realising the project together with Linda Remahl, choreographer and Jenny Schinkler, freelance dance artist, choreographer and performance artist. Jenny Schinkler participated in the autumn of 2022 in the Go Business incubator programme run by Piteå Science Park.
The project is realised in collaboration with Arjeplog municipality, Icemakers and Silvermuséet. The project is funded by Kulturbryggan, which promotes renewal and development in the cultural field. The project is also supported by the Greta Foundation.
It will premiere in Arjeplog on 22 March.
