Northern Sweden in focus in Australia

The major industrial initiatives in northern Sweden are in focus at a high-level conference in Sydney.

The Swedish business support organisation Business Sweden assisted the Swedish Crown Princess Couple's official visit to Australia and New Zealand this week.

Given the mining industry's position in Australia and its important role in the global green transition, Business Sweden's main activity during the Crown Princess Couple's visit was what is known as the Sweden-Australia High-level Sustainable Mining Summit.

- Sweden and Australia are two of the world's leading mining nations. Sweden has the technology, innovation and sustainable systems thinking to deliver benefits as the mining industry develops and takes on a growing importance and role for more and more countries. We hope that our event will lead to new collaborations and business opportunities," says Business Sweden's CEO Jan Larsson, who was attending the event.

Representatives from the Australian mining industry have been invited to the full-day conference to learn more about what is happening in Sweden around sustainable mining. Sweden is among the global leaders in sustainable mining, including electrification, automation, digitalisation and connected mines. In Sweden, projects such as Sustainable Underground Mining, LKAB's ReeMap and the HYBRIT project run by LKAB, SSAB and Vattenfall have attracted considerable international interest.
The Crown Princess Couple and Minister for Foreign Trade Johan Forssell took part during the day.

- It is gratifying that there is so much interest in Business Sweden's events on the mining industry. Australia's growing importance in the green transition on a global level can be explained, among other things, by their large metal and mineral resources, so the cooperation between Sweden and Australia is valuable and has great potential to develop even further, says Martin Ekberg, Trade Secretary for Australia.

Business Sweden is jointly owned by the Swedish state and the Swedish business sector with a mandate and a mission to help international companies gain access to the Swedish market and help domestic ones utilise it as a platform for expansion.
