Business start-ups increase in Norrbotten
During the first month of the year, 146 new businesses were started in Norrbotten.
The trend is better in Norrbotten than in the country as a whole, where January saw a 4.8 per cent decrease in new business start-ups. Nine counties were in the black and 12 counties in the red. A total of 6,950 new enterprises were started in Sweden in January.
"It is not surprising that the number of new businesses continues to fall in Sweden. Higher unemployment and more bankruptcies with fewer new businesses is not a good combination. With more new businesses come more jobs, tax revenue and prosperity. The government support system for new businesses should therefore be reviewed," says Harry Goldman, CEO of Nyföretagarcentrum Sverige (New Business Centre Sweden).
The statistics, which come from Bolagsverket (the Swedish Companies Registration Office), are presented by Nyföretagarcentrum Sverige. The statistics include limited companies, partnerships, limited partnerships and sole proprietorships.
