Göran Persson leaves LKAB
He has announced that he wants to leave at this spring's annual general meeting. He has served as chairman for seven years, during a period that has involved major changes and ongoing development projects, especially the transition to producing fossil-free sponge iron.
"I am leaving the position at the annual general meeting and I am doing so with the right of age", says Göran Persson to Dagens Industri. He will turn 75 in January 2024.
According to Dagens Industri, the Swedish government, which appoints the board of the state-owned company, wants the chairmanship to be taken over by another former finance minister, Anders Borg (M). Anders Borg took a seat on LKAB's board at the annual general meeting in the spring this year.
Göran Persson continues as chairman of one of Sweden's largest banks, Swedbank.
