Northvolt in court
The prosecution is based on a raid carried out at the company in the autumn of 2021. During the raid, which was carried out by the police in cooperation with the Swedish Tax Agency and the Swedish Work Environment Authority, it was discovered that twelve of 49 foreign workers checked did not have permission to stay in Sweden.
Northvolt and the manager deny the crime as the foreign workers were not employed by Northvolt. They were employed by contractors hired by Northvolt.
After the raid, Northvolt decided, in consultation with the trade union Byggnads and the relevant authorities, not to allow more than two tiers of subcontractors on its factory sites, changes which the company says have been successful.
