50 IT companies recruit together
It is the business organisation Luleå Näringsliv, which through its IT industry council, with 50 IT companies in its forum, is collaborating with students at Luleå University of Technology, the municipal Luleå Business Region and NTI business high school.
- It feels incredibly good that we, who might normally be competitors for business and staff, can work together to highlight what a fantastic industry we work in and the opportunities that exist in Luleå and the region. Partly to attract people and skills here, but also to get young people and young adults to understand that you do not have to move south to make a career, it is just as possible here, says Sofie Johansson, chair of the IT industry council.
Recently three joint activities have been carried out: a fair in Luleå where IT students could meet the IT industry in Luleå. The event was attended by 200 students and 32 IT companies and authorities with national IT departments operating in Luleå. A joint social media marketing campaign was carried out, focusing on student locations such as Stockholm, Gothenburg and Uppsala. Another fair was hold where job seekers and adults and young people interested in education in Norrbotten had the opportunity to try out different professions.
- The skills shortage is now being felt in most sectors. As a company, you need to have a plan for your own skills supply. In addition, joining forces as an industry and making joint efforts, in the form of fairs, activities and joint marketing campaigns, gives additional impetus to the skills supply work. As a bonus, it builds pride, community and a stronger local brand. It is very gratifying to see, says Camilla Sehlin, CEO of Luleå Näringsliv.
