Norrbotten awarded Export Region of the Year

Norrbotten has received the Export Region of the Year award.
The award was presented by Minister for Foreign Trade Anna Hallberg at a ceremony on Wednesday.

- Despite the fact that Norrbotten is a large region with long distances and a relatively small population, the region has been exceptionally successful in promoting exports. A true role model for others, says Anna Hallberg.

Tillväxtverket, The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, produces regional export statistics and nominates regions for the award. This year, Skåne and Uppsala were also nominated.

According to the motivation for the award, "Norrbotten has had a positive development of goods exports in small and medium-sized enterprises, and the region has a successful cross-border partnership involving export promotion organisations in Norrbotten as well as Finland and Norway".

The award was received by Sabrina Suikki, International Coordinator of the Norrbotten Chamber of Commerce, in the presence of Prince Daniel of Sweden.

The government has established the prize to recognise regions and companies that have made particularly meritorious efforts for Swedish exports during the past year. The winner of the Export Success of the Year award was the company Nordic Biomarker.
