SSAB confirms discussions regarding Tata Steel

An acquisition of Tata Steel Europe Netherlands is controversal due to the environmental impact the industry has. 

SSAB is planning för fossil-free steel production in its Swedish and Finnish plants. The steel mill in Netherlands has an even bigger impact on the environment. An acquisition would on the contrary increase emissions from the industry, due to several analysts and investors who thinks the acquisition is no good idea.

SSAB says in a pressrelease on November 13:

"SSAB has participated in several different discussions concerning consolidations in the European steel industry. The discussions with Tata are on-going but no decisions have been made. There can be no certainty that any transaction will materialize, nor as to the terms of any such potential transaction. Further announcement will be made in due course."
