Bolidens appeal rejected by the Swedish Government

Älvsbyn The Swedish Government rejects Boliden´s appeal for the mining concession at Laver in the northern Sweden.

In Laver Boliden has explored a mineral resource of copper, gold, silver and molybdenum.

In 2014 Boliden applied for a mining concession covering the entirety of the deposit. But in 2016 the company's application was rejected by the Swedish Mining Inspectorate Bergsstaten. A decision Boliden has appealed. Now the Government has rejected the company's appeal.

- It has taken the Government four years to agree with its own authority. It will not take us four years to react on this, says Klas Nilsson, Boliden´s director of communications to the swedish Dagens Industri.

The Government take the same position as Bergsstaten, which is that it is required a Natura 2000 decision, before a mining concession can be appealed.
